Watch all the match highlights from the O Neill shield final between Boyne Harps and Parkvilla Fc. Harps started the brighter of the 2 teams and had a couple of half-chances before taking the lead when a ball into the box wasn’t cleared and good link up in the box saw Connor Tully fire the ball into the back of the Parkvilla net. The goal seemed to wake the “Villa” up and they started to create a couple of half-chances before having their keeper to thank for keeping the score at 1-0 with a good save after some great link-up play down the right side by Harps. Parkvilla then began to put more pressure on the Harps defence and should have levelled the game when a great ball was played into the box and the forward somehow blasted the ball over the bar from 6 yards. You could sense a goal was coming from Parkvilla and they continued to press for the equalizer but a mixture of bad finishing and great defending kept the score at 1-0 going into the break.
Anyone watching the game knew the 2nd goal of the game would be crucial and it was Harps who scored it early in the 2nd half when Nathan Llewellyn ran on to a great through ball from Tully to grab Harps second. This was a big setback to Parkvilla who must have wanted to start the 2nd as they finished the 1st half but instead found themselves 2 goals behind with a mountain to climb. The Navan side never gave up the game though and continued to press looking for a goal that would put them back in the game but the Harps backline stood firm and when they got in past them the keeper was there to make a save. The game never lost any pace and both teams were looking for the next goal with both going close on a number of occasions but the game would finish 2-0 to Harps.
Congratulations to Boyne Harps O Neill Shield Champions 2019
