O’Neill Shield
Robinstown 3 Square 1

After the frustration of lasts Friday’s opening day defeat in the O’Neill Shield Robinstown were anxious to get back to winning ways and a scintillating first half performance insured that was the case with a Ciaran Roche hat trick doing the job for Robinstown.

The home team came of the blocks with great pace and enthusiasm and put the visitors on the back foot early on. Cody Rogers and Ciaran Roche looked a threat from the first whistle and the two combined after just five minutes for Roche to tap home.
A poor defensive clearance was pounced on by Ciarán Roche after fifteen minutes but he still had a lot to do and coolly slotted home to double the advantage.
Just after the twenty minute mark some good pressure from Josh Finnegan and good work down the right flank by Paul Garry set up Roche for his hat trick. Square did have some chances of their own but they came up against an inspired goalkeeping performance by Paul Lynch who made several fantastic saves.
The hosts went in three up at the break.

The visitors got back into it after just fifteen minutes of the second half but it proved to be just a consolation as the hosts defense stood firm. A good display in preparation for the first league game of the season next Saturday Away to Torro.

Well done lads.

Kells Celtic 3 Robinstown 2nds 0

Robinstown were hoping to get back on track yesterday afternoon after last weeks loss against electro celtics 2nds but the opposite happened

The home side started the better after creating very good chances in the first 20 minute s including a free kick on target and almost punishing poor clearance s from robinstown defense. Robinstown did  create chances of their own but not coverting them . The home side got the lead shortly before half time after a good team found the striker whose shot got deflected into the net.

The visitors had a chance to draw level but managed to hit the crossbar . This was the closest the visitors came to an equaliser. The visitors scored their second from a counter attack move that was put in the net. This effectve sealed the win and Kells added a third to ensure the win . Things need to improve for robinstown when they play Chord Celtic in the first league game of the season next Saturday
