Congratulations Newfoundwell Fc who were crowned North East Football League Premier League Champions 2017/18

Newfoundwell knew a point would be good enough to win the top prize which has eluded them for the past couple of seasons, and it didnt take them long to take the game to Bellurgan, they went close close on a couple of occasions to taking the lead before Anto Burke poked home the opening goal when the ball was allowed to bounce in the 6 yard box. The 2nd goal was not long after, when Burke linked up with Ian Devine and the frontman made no mistake and made it 2-0. It was not getting any better for Bellurgan who fell 3-0 behind when a corner was swung into the box and Paddy O Boyle rose highest and slammed home a header to all but wrap up the 3 points and the league crown.

The second half started with a downpour but even after a couple of changes in the Well line up Bellurgan could still not get a foothold in the game and as in the first half found themselves being pegged back in their own half. The points were then sealed when Daryl McDonagh fired over the keeper from the edge of the box to make it 4-0 and game “well” and truely over.

Newfoundwell were happy to keep a hold of the ball after this and the game ended with Newfoundwell winning 4-0 but more importantly the title of Premier League Champions.
