Congratulations Boyne Harps Reserve Cup Champions 2019

Congratulations to Boyne Harps after they lifted the reserve cup last night with a convincing win over league champions Trim Celtic, in a complete turnaround from the league title playoff last week in which Trim won by 4 goals, Harps turned it on to beat Trim by 4 goals in this final. Harps started the brighter of the 2 sides and tore into Trim by not letting them play their normal passing game, they pressed them high up the pitch and continued to create chances for their front men, in contrast Trim forwards were being starved of possession and the back 4 of Harps were clearing anything that came their way. As much as Harps were in control the scoreline remained 0-0 and you felt that the first goal was going to be crucial and it would be Harps who claimed it just at the stroke of halftime, Martin Kelly the scorer just on the 45 min mark, Celtic would have felt that 1-0 at halftime was not too bad considering their performance was not to their usual high standards but in injury time in the first half Harps scored a second when Marty Walsh slotted home to make it 2-0 and put some breathing space between the 2 sides.

Trim started the 2nd half a lot better and began to put some pressure on Harps and that pressure was rewarded when after a couple of corners in succession Dean Rowlands rose highest to score a header and put Trim back in the game, the next 10 mins would be crucial for Trim but they couldnt build on Rowlads goal and Harps broke away to score a 3rd and that goal deflated the Trim side who would go on to concede another 2 goals, firstly from Harps man of the match Tom Reilly who arrived at the back post unmarked to score a simple header and  sub Conor Tully put the icing on the cake scoring Harps 5th and completing a amazing turnaround from their 4-0 defeat the previous week at the hands of Trim.

Congratulations to Danny Doyle who again delivered sliverware for his club, along with Barry woods Danny has consistently won trophies for any club he has managed and this is just another double in a long list of  his trophy haul.
