Division 2 is notorious for being a tough division to win, never mind getting getting promoted out of, but this season saw Chord Celtic rip up the division and breeze through to be the 1st team to claim a title this season. Having been just promoted to div 2, the Drogheda side took on new management with Mr Chord Celtic John Monaghan welcoming back Cormac Reid and Fiachra Jein to take charge of the 1st team, the joint managers wasted no time in signing a host of young talent from the town and after a successful pre season in which they won a local tournament  they hit the ground running in the league with victories by big scorelines.
Chord were looking like running away  with the league as they continued to win game after  game including a big local derby win over Moneymore Fc. Ironically it would be Moneymore who would inflict their only defeat of their league campaign before bowing out of the league altogether.
If that was a test of the mentality of the young Chord side, they responded in style by going on another winning streak notching up some big scorelines with more than one goal being a contender for goal of the season.
The title winning game would end up being played at Bailieboro Celtic on a wet Friday night and after a slow start which they fell a goal and a man behind, they came back to score 3 and secure the 2nd division crown and see Chord Celtic playing ball in the 1st division for the 1st time next season. This run of form would also see Chord make it to the semi finals of the Challenge cup which they would lose on penos and also the final of the Fitzsimons cup which they would go on to lose against a more experienced Omp side.
One thing for sure is if Chord can keep that side and management together for next season they will be in the running for another promotion and Premier league football.
